Malcata Animal Association
It was founded by Jo Bruce, who was my incredible, loving and caring mum.
Tragically we lost her in September 2019 unexpectedly, and only 3 weeks after her association was made official.
She left behind her legacy of rescuing, rehabilitating, rehoming animals and her immensely kind heart and love for anyone who maybe needed a little extra help, something she had been doing for as long as I can remember and mostly single handedly, due to my dads work taking him to away for long periods at a time.
We knew as a family that we could not give up and so my dad, Gordon Bruce, is continuing to keep my mums dream alive of having an official rescue, alongside the support of the incredible community in and around Penamacor as well as our loved ones who fully support us in this task.
Until the association became legal in August 2019, the cost of the care of the animals was completely self funded and since September we have been completely overwhelmed by the generous donations and incredible influx of volunteers who have been helping my dad look after the dogs we currently have rescued, during this extremely unprecedented and unknowing period of time we could not have continued without this, so a massive thank you to everyone who helped us survive the past 8 months.
